The cabinetmaker carries out either a whole or part of furniture, or a prototype for a series production. He works in workshop starting from technical documents (sketch of the piece of furniture to be realized). He binds aesthetic research on furniture and the settling of the models with their manufacture. Good draughtsman, it is rigorous, precise and has a real knowledge of the various styles of furniture.
The cabinetmaker is distinguished from the carpenter by his production more than by his technique. The carpenter rather completes alteration work to measure and the installation carries out some. Contrary to the cabinetmaker he works in workshop and on the building sites.

 • Chairs, armchairs, small tables, small furniture
The chairs and the armchairs gondoles, this name is in relation to the curvilinear shape of their file, forms which points out that of the Venetian gondoles. The often openwork file presents a central reason, its feet finish in “sabres”.
The upper part is tilted towards the back pointing out the line of the beds boats.
The chairs will show the same characteristics with like reasons for the file the crossed arrows, this warlike emblem symbol of the republican freedom recently acquired after the French revolution.
One also raises the inspiration brought by the countryside of Egypt where the taste caused for art gréco-Roman following the excavations of Herculanum and Pompéi is illustrated in furniture.
The small tables will be bronze pedestal tables gilded, tripod tables in mahogany tree with applications of gilded bronze, of the small worktables in mahogany tree decorated with applications out of bronze gilded finely engraved. They present forms varied with plates round, oval, square or rectangular. They will be covered with wood or marble posed on the belt.
