Métallier
As its name indicates it, the métallier is the specialist in the manufacture and the installation of the metal works for the building.
The trade of métallier evolved/moved considerably with the rise of new materials. In the past called metal worker, the métallier is present today in many branches of industry.
As soon as a structural component shelters metal, one calls upon him.
Its work is varied: keys, French windows, balconies, slopes of staircase, shielding of doors, alarms, pylons… more especially as the creators, draughtsmen or architects are not in lack of ideas to invent all kinds of objects out of metal.
The profession seeks consequently young people very qualified to answer at the request of the customers increasingly more demanding in materials and the novel ideas.

Very physical, the trade of métallier proceeds in several phases.
Among the last speakers in this succession of builders, the métallier starts by visualizing his new work place, to study the plans and to take measurements or statements of dimensions stages impossible to circumvent constitute for any métallier.
Once the building site at the head, true manual work can then begin: the métallier will output metal bars, will carry out cuts, foldings, bendings, forgings and other drillings.
Let us recall, for the beginners, that bending is the operation by which the métallier will give a curve to a metal bar and that forging consists in working metals with fire and the hammer on the anvil.
When the métallier is entirely satisfied with his work in workshop, it will be able to transport the various parts on the place even of the building site in order to carry out the final assembly of the metal work.
Its activity however does not stop there: the métallier can also be invited to carry out all kinds of repairs, like a rebellious lock or the replacement of a metal element.

The walk of bottom is the starting walk, that the top is the walk of arrival or landing walk.
Parts of walk
go: Horizontal surface on which one poses the foot.
Edge of step: left projecting walk on the naked one of the contremarche, the height of the guard body or the handrail is calculated starting from the nose.
Collet: small side of a balanced walk.
Contremarche: Vertical part between two steps. The contremarche is making safe, however it is not systematic (the scales of miller do not have any, for example).
Silt
Sill which makes it possible to hold the stairs.
Smooth, (or handrail)
It belongs to the railing and it accompanies the staircase over all its length.
Escaped
